FALL 2020 ROLLOUT

FALL 2020 ROLLOUT

Miami Childrens Theater has carefully weighed out the effects of the pandemic and as always will provide programming that is in line with what is safe and reasonable for our families. . Our migration to in-person rehearsals and classes will be dictated by the determinations of the CDC and we will roughly follow the Miami-Dade County Public School system's. Miami Childrens Theater will, as a company, error on the side of caution - there is no company in the world that misses our kids than MCT but we also do not want to contribute to the pandemic by staging live classes until we are satisfied that it is safe. Our plans this fall include:
1) Starting September 30 our popular Mainstage Junior class will start. Following the fun and great success of our popular virtual format used in the summer this class will be virtual. Mainstage Junior is for young actors 6 through 12 who are just beginning musical theater and/or have trying musical theater for the first time. Mainstage Junior meets virtually every Monday and Wednesday from 4:30 to 6 pm and runs September 30th to November 18th, There will be a filmed, final presentation much like we did this summer. We highly encourage young students who enjoyed the summer sessions or are just starting out to sign up for Mainstage Junior! We will be doing Alice in Wonderland and the class is taught by Ashley Blum and Fabi Cueto.
2) For older kids we will be staging a hybrid version of Jason Robert Brown's Songs for a New World. Hybrid meaning rehearsals will be largely virtual but the final performance will be live (venue currently being negotiated). We will have audition information and registration info up later this week.
3) Similar, a hybrid version of a full musical for our talented actors ages 12 through 16. We will have the venue and and show to be named by the end of the week.
4) Master classes from Broadway stars and our staff to keep your training going. Stay tuned for the class schedule!

Miami Childrens Theater ran one of the most successful virtual theater camps in the nation this summer, gaining attention of national press, Telemundo and the Broadway community. Our succcess was due to our families - we released and extentsive survey to our patrons in May and followed the guidelines and feedback we received. Thank you to our incredible faculty who made virtual learning fun and entertaining. Miami Childrens Theater will use the same methodology for the Fall. We will distribute a wide-scale survey around September 10 to see how our families are doing with the new school year and how Miami Childrens Theater can be of service to our students. Our immediate plans are to put in person classes and shows on hold till the COVID crisis clears to our satisfaction. We will continue virtual classes and shows based on your feedback. If any student or family seeks private vocal, acting or dance lessons in the meantime please contact Angeles Hernandez at mctoffice2020@gmail.com and she can connect you with the proper teacher. Thank you - and stay safe!
