30 Years of Theater. One New Home.

This January, Miami Children’s Theater is opening the doors to a dream 30 years in the making! Since 1996, Miami Children’s Theater (MCT) has inspired generations of young performers to discover their voices, build confidence, form lifelong friendships, and find a place where they truly belong. Led by Tony Award-nominated theater educator Tim Fath, MCT has spent three decades bringing the magic of performing arts education to children and teens throughout South Florida.Now, for the first time in our history, we’re preparing to open a permanent home of our very own in January 2027! Our new performing arts center will feature a black box theater, dance and rehearsal studios, vocal training rooms, and creative classrooms where young artists can learn, grow, and shine. But this is about so much more than a building. It’s about creating a home where every child has the opportunity to experience the transformative power of theater, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. At MCT, we’ve always believed that no child should be denied the opportunity to participate because of financial hardship. With our new home, we can expand our programs, welcome more students, provide scholarships, and create even more opportunities for the next generation of performers.

This Give Miami Day, we’re working toward a $100,000 fundraising goal to help prepare our new home for its January grand opening.Your generosity will help us build and equip our black box theater, prepare rehearsal and dance studios, purchase lighting and sound equipment, furnish classrooms, and support accessible arts education.

I am extremely proud to announce Satyajarhit (Sati) Castro to the position of Lead Junior Director and Head of Theater Operations for the Miami Childrens Theater. Since Sati has come on board at MCT she has shown not only tremendous talent as a director, but Sati has also excelled from an operations/administrative side. Sati is imaginative, resourceful and the right person to oversee MCT theater operations. Miami Childrens Theater is in good hands because Sati is a problem-solver, a “big picture” person. I am personally grateful for Sati coming on board and taking the initiative to improve the theatre because it will allow me to concentrate further on education outreach, community ties and grants, Everyone please congratulate and welcome Satyajarhit Castro!

SOME OF OUR NOTABLE ALUMNI

The past decade has seen Miami Childrens Theater become one of the top young persons’ theaters in the nation with 24 of its’ alumni rising to roles on Broadway. (including Ana Villafane (pictured) as Gloria Estefan in the hit Broadway musical On Your Feet. Actors trained at Miami Childrens Theater have been featured in hit Broadway shows such as Hamilton, Kinky Boots, Dear Evan Hansen, Tootsie, Cats, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods., The Outsiders and Water for Elephants, Two significant distinctions occurred in the years 2010-2020: MCT Director Tim Fath was honored with a Tony Award Nomination for Excellence in Theater Education and Miami Childrens Theater was voted Best Overall Theater and Best Childrens Theater in Broadway World’s Regional “Best of the Decade” voting.
